Last Steam Drifter; Lydia Eva Refit

Since 2007 the 98ft fishing boat, built in 1930 and taken out of service in 1968, has been on Small & Co's slipway in Lowestoft for extensive repairs to the metalwork - including 60% of the hull's metal plates.

Other work carried out included new wooden decks, reconstructing the wheelhouse; fitting out the aft cabin; complete engine overhaul, creating an onboard museum, and testing and commissioning the boiler.

As well as this there has been a complete new electrical system designed and installed using, where possible, almost forgotten techniques including brass clipping of cables. A new generator, battery bank, control and distribution equipment, alarm and monitoring and a new bridge has all been installed in the least obtrusive manner to allow visitors to this floating museum to experience times gone by.
